Writing for EC

EdenCafe is always looking for new authors to submit posts. The main goal of our site is to bring together many communities and viewpoints, to let everyone have a voice and to cover a wide variety of topics. Got something to say? We’d love to hear it! But first, please read these guidelines:

What we’re looking for:

  • Controversial topics
  • Passionate discussion
  • Researched informative guides or articles
  • Opinion pieces
  • Personal experience
  • Civil responses to other posts in our archive
  • Anything that falls under this list of tags: Sex, sexuality, humor, community, news, events, politics, bdsm, lgbqt, relationships, sex and parenting, world events, health care, health and wellness issues, sexual health, body image
  • Written articles and erotica
  • Written articles should be saved as .doc, .txt or .rtf files with an original title (no variation of “ECsubmission” please) and emailed as an attachment

What we’re not looking for:

  • Attacks on any person, religion, race, creed, sexuality or gender
  • Reviews (We’ve got a great review program on Eden Fantasys!)
  • Reprints of any kind
  • Plagiarized material
  • Links to competitors within the text
  • Affiliate links within the text

What we expect:

  • If you are a new contributor: A name and email you don’t mind being public and a short bio. This is not optional. You can create/use a free public email with hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc. or post anonymously.
  • Contributors may submit 1 article a week and have no more than 4 posts in the queue at a time.
  • Min. written article word count: 500 words
  • That you’ve done your research! – We don’t edit for content. Please be sure you’ve checked your own facts!

What you can expect:

  • A timely response (at most 5 business days – Our offices are closed weekends and most federal holidays.)
  • A gift card to Eden Fantasys upon acceptance
  • Light editing for typos and spelling errors in written posts
  • Occasional requests for tweaking of articles
  • Your article should be live within 3 weeks of submission depending on submission load

What you’ll be paid:
Written Erotica:

  • $10 gift card for 500 – 800 words
  • $20 gift card for 801 – 1200 words
  • $30 gift card for more than 1200 words – Submissions that are more than 1200 words will be accepted on a case by case basis.

Written Nonfiction:

  • $15 gift card for 500 – 800 words
  • $25 gift card for 801 – 1200 words
  • $50 gift card for more than 1200 words – Submissions that are more than 1200 words will be accepted on a case by case basis.

Current Suggested Topics:  Please note: These topics are merely suggestions! Feel free to write about whatever strikes your fancy.

  • A lifetime of intimacy – What does “intimacy” mean to you? What would a lifetime of intimacy look like? Can you plan for a lifetime of intimacy? Are you living one? How’d you get there? ***Deadline: Friday, February 24th, 2012. However, we plan to post these throughout the month of February, so the earlier you get them in, the better.
  • Do you read SexIs? See something there you really want to talk about? Write about it and send it along!
  • There’s a commonly held belief that monogamy is unnatural. That we, as a society, have been brainwashed into believing we should be monogamous. What do you think? If you’re monogamous, do you feel you chose it?
  • What do you think about condoms in porn? Good? Bad? Indifferent? Why?
  • What makes a feminist? Are you one?
  • What are your thoughts on our current political situation?  Occupy Wall Street?  Do you think sexuality is tied in with politics? How do you feel about same sex marriage?  State funding for birth control, sexual health and abortion clinics?  Do you think the world is more liberal in general about these issues now as opposed to when you were younger?  What changes do you feel should be made? Do you feel different generations feel more or less entitled to certain things than others? Share your thoughts!
  • Word of the Week: Define a word for us that you think we should know. Make it sexy or funny or informative or all of the above!
