I have a strange affinity for dildos; it’s not a penis envy thing, it’s simply a fascination and love of sexual craftsmanship.

Most people know that I always recommend 100% medical-grade silicone over just about any material on the market. What you may not know is that my favorite kind of med-grade silicone is called Vixskin; a squishy, skin-like material made by Vixen Creations.

Vixskin was originally only offered in the form of UBER life-like, flesh-colored dildos. This was an immense upgrade for those who were using cyberskin as their source for toy realism. Now cyberskin is nice to look at, but I sure wouldn’t want it to live near my genitals.

PVC + whatever-is-lying-around is what cyberskin is generally composed of. It’s extremely porous, tends to break down after a short time, seems to have a “sweaty” quality, and usually smells horrendous. The fact that cyberskin has an all-star line up of equally nasty characteristics is not coincidental; these toys are frequently LOADED with phthalates. This potentially cancer-causing plastic softener not only causes a strange condensation to emerge from the pores of the toy, but is also responsible for that less than charming aroma. Another thing: Because phthalates make the plastic squishier, integrity of the material is broken down, thus causing it to rip or wear out quickly. And by the way, cyberskin toys are often pretty pricey too.

Now you see why toys made of phthalate-free, skin-like Vixskin and 02 silicone (a similar material made by Tantus) were much needed additions to the market. Ok, so they are pretty darn expensive, but they are worth every sterilizable penny. If you treat your Vixskin toy as well as it will undoubtedly treat you it will last you a very long time; possibly a lifetime.

Some people get freaked out by dildos that look or feel too much like a real penis… I understand. It looks dismembered (which can be a turn-off) and there’s also the matter of some people just not finding the penis to be very exciting in general. This is why I was super excited when I found out that Vixen was making Vixskin dildos in a non-realistic aesthetic. Tantus’ 02 material as always been manufactured with a non-fleshy, space-aged look, but I personally like Vixskin better; so I’m glad there are now more colorful options available.

My deepest recommendation goes to 100% medical-grade Vixskin and 02 silicone dildos. Why?

  • Ultra soft exterior: Feels like real skin, makes for comfortable penetration, will yield with the clenching of your pelvic muscles. This effect is created by spacing the silicone molecules further away from one another, as opposed to the tight density of other silicone toys.
  • Phthalate-Free: No funky smell, no pores, no sweating, surface requires no maintenance other than cleansing with anti-bacterial soap and warm water.
  • Can be sterilized: In boiling water for 10 minutes or on the top rack of your dishwasher without detergent.
  • Harness compatible: Underneath the squishy skin-like surface of the dildo is a core of higher-density silicone that keeps a firm structure; perfect for strap-on control.
  • Immensely high-quality: Fairly expensive, but save your pennies- your private parts will thank you later!

Your dildo feels real and, if you’re into it, can look real…So who cares if it’s technically a “faker.” Let me assure you, the orgasms will be the true certificate of authenticity.

Realistically Yours,
