Whenever the word silk is mentioned, images of elegance, sensuality, texture and a hint of naughtiness comes to mind. Personally I can not fathom a more appropriate alias for the legendary adult model, starlet and director Alexandra Silk. Absolutely stunning and the epitome of all that is erotic truly there is no wonder as to how this Long Island born beauty has accumulated over 400 xxx plus titles to her resume.
The frisky Baliff Silk on Playboy T.V.’s sitcom Sex Court was endearing to fans devoted and new.
Donning the director’s hat we’ve been graced with such classics as Silk Ties, Silk Stockings and Silk Panties while broadening every xxx connoisseur’s horizon from a female perspective. With a career spanning over fifteen years strong, multiple AVN and XRCO awards mere words cannot express the exquisite dream and pleasure it is to have you join me today.
DAVE GAMMON: Your most recent pursuits have been alongside ever charismatic and captivating husband Luc Wylder in sexual surrogacy training. Tell me, what is sexual surrogacy and how did this pursuit come about?
ALEXANDRA SILK: A different wording for it would be surrogate partner therapy. How it came about is a natural progression. I really felt that in the industry we became more of a system where there is time constraints, other factors involved with the scenes where they ended up not be so sexy after all. The focus or doing intense focusing on sex is what made me want to go into this surrogate partner work because being a sex surrogate you really are giving therapy to a client with long term benefits. As a surrogate partner I help facilitate that and healthy sex, developing healthy relationships and giving them exercises to help build their confidence. It seems like a natural evolution.
DG: From what I understand there seems to be an assistance or an enabling of assisting someone in overcoming obstacles or barriers in towards expressing oneself sexually, would that be accurate to say?
AS: No. Actually it’s quite the opposite. It’s trying to get them to slow down and focus, get all the clutter free of their minds and concentrate on some simple things such as breathing, touch, and feeling. That’s what a lot of people I do believe are missing when it comes to dysfunctions; they have to learn how to look at things with a different pair of glasses.
DG: I can see that– sure. So it’s very therapeutic and very enlightening in a sense.
What impact will the introduction of sexual surrogacy have on North American culture?
AS: Well I could speak world wide, not just North America. It’s quite impactful; but not just for individuals. It will be impactful as far as therapy, in other words educating therapists to use us. Then I think it’s actually more of a challenge then actually working with the client. A lot of therapists and counselors out there don’t really understand what the work is that we’re doing. So not only do we have to educate the clients but also have to get the message spread in the world. If for instance, I don’t know if Luc had told you, but in Israel they have centres for surrogacy work partner therapy.
DG: He did mention that and that in fact it is covered under health plans there as well.
DG: So it’s seems very, very progressive there in a sense.
AS: Right. And there’s other countries as well, more and more countries are joining—on board. And we can have a lot of healthy sex out in the world not just strictly in North America.
DG: …generally more content and emotionally capable people as a result I would tend to have to think too.
AS: Yes, for sure that’s an added bonus.
DG: Your journey into adult film began with another legend Jenna Jameson’s persuasion. Early in her career she was best known for feature films. Is the feature film genre dead in 2010?
AS: Yeah, hence the success of reality. So I guess in that respect features may hold a straw position but reality is clearly the winner.
DG: Do you think reality is the future of adult entertainment do you think that is the hottest genre available in porn today?
AS: Absolutely because of the internet. A lot of people have cameras in their bedrooms.
DG: It’s a whole new different medium for sure. Who were some of your influences early in your career?
AS: Candida Royalle. Sharon Mitchell….Do you know who they are?

AS: Yes and Sharon Mitchell whoa she is just amazing. She opened a clinic for our industry. Do you know the AIM healthcare clinic?
DG: Well I’ve read quite a great deal upon it. I’m aware she’s been a tremendous advocate for getting stars and starlets tested for all STD’s on at least a 30 day basis.
AS: And beyond that the clinic they also do other things as well. Pap smears, simple gynecological things as there’s a doctor on staff at all times so it’s beyond just a testing clinic.
DG: I have the impression that Sharon really put a lot of effort and energy towards health and wellness of all the participants in adult entertainment and didn’t just treat them as performers. I think there is really something to be said for that.
AS: And Hugh Hefner also. He was also a very big influence on me. I always just loved the man and still do. He’s made me a star. I get people to this day ( the show is in reruns ) but people just seeing it for the first time say “oh I love your show. I just watched it”
(Collective laughs) its aired worldwide. It’s in several countries.
DG: Yeah in thirty countries or something like that; A lot of fans of Sex Court for sure.
Reflecting back, what has been your single most comical moment on a film set?
AS: Most comical? Hmmm that’s a good one.
AS: (laughs) Well I have to say it was not funny at the time but I laugh about it now. I went to the wrong address for my shoot. There were people there. There was a shoot going on in the backyard. I had on my normal thing—when I show up at a shoot I take off my clothes and get into a robe so you don’t have any visible lines from your clothing. So here I am in my bathrobe walking around this house, there’s all my stuff out on the counter in the kitchen. I was just watching them shoot, and then I was all the sudden, “Hey! Those are two guys…. so then I found the production guy who was out there in the back yard…well it turns out I was at the wrong house.
DG: (laughs) Oh no! Well I imagine they likely invited you to stay for a while regardless.
AS: Yeah I don’t know the number was likely 9696 and I went to 6969 or something like that.
DG: Well, a simple case of mistaken identity, could happen to anyone right?
Be sure to check back next week for Part 2 of 2 As Smooth as Silk where Alexandra and I discuss favourite male and female performers in the industry, bizarre fan encounters, directing 101 among others.
