This is my second Don Wands piece from the Treeze line. I have to admit I like the natural color vibrator better but that doesn’t mean I don’t like this piece.
Quite the opposite, actually. It’s a phenomenal plug, blending different and unique looks with a classic shape and supreme comfort and ease of use.
Do be aware, however, that wood is a super firm, unyielding material so while this one looks mild and easy going, it’s definitely satisfying and may be a bit much for anal novices!
The Basics: The Treeze Tear plug is exactly what it sounds like; a tear drop shaped anal plug made of a wood/urethane blend. The cool thing about this blend is that it’s highly durable while still retaining the look and feel of wood without the worry of coatings that may wear down with time. The plug itself is four inches long with three and a half of those inches being insertable. It has a one and a half inch diameter at it’s widest point — which is generally about average for a plug – and a one inch shaft that tapers to a round, safe base.
The graining is gorgeous and colored to really pop but it’s never going to be mistaken for “natural”. I don’t think that’s its intention and it doesn’t bother me in the least. In fact, it’s absolutely lovely to look at with its shades of warm red, orange, brown, tan and green.
In use: While the one and a half inch diameter of this plug is fairly average as far as plugs go, for some reason it felt larger than most to me. I believe it’s primarily the shape and the firmness of the wood/urethane blend. It has no give, no bend, just a straight tapering design that gives a definite stretch. Not too much for most users with some experience but it may be a bit large feeling for the total novice. Advanced users should be thoroughly satisfied, even though it’s not huge, because the lack of flexibility and zero squishiness make it feel filling, indeed.
I used water based lube with this which, along with it’s smaller diameter at the tip and tapering bulge, made it fairly easy to insert. Long term wear is easy, use during intercourse is flawless as it never once slipped out or felt painful and during masturbation it’s a delight. I’m not super fond of this shape for any thrusting but, then again, that’s not what plugs are for so it’s all good. The best thing about using this is the ease of retention. The narrow yet longish neck makes keeping it in a breeze.
The base itself may be a bit large for some, especially those with less padding in the hind end, but for me it was very comfy and made me feel very secure. It’s large enough that I never felt any danger of it slipping in too far.
Care and Cleaning: The Treeze line products can be cleaned either with soap and water, toy cleaner, toy wipes or wiped down with a mild, ten percent bleach solution. I would not recommend boiling them — or even using them in the bath or pool, etc – because even though they are a wood blend, they may still swell and warp if completely water logged.
These wood toys come with the standard Don Wands padded, velvety drawstring bag and I store mine in it. It can, of course, be stored with other toys and shouldn’t have a reaction but I prefer to keep it protected.
Any lube can be used with this, making it versatile as hell!
Don Wands: Don Wands has been under heavy scrutiny this past year for a couple of unfortunate incidents. A defective glass toy was sent to a reviewer and the issue was heavily publicized by the reviewing community. An employee got defensive when another reviewer disliked a Treeze product and handled the situation badly. It took them awhile to give a response to both issues and there are folks who have been left with a bad taste over it.
Personally, I find Don Wands products to be really freaking good. The wood blend pieces I have are incredible. The glass pieces some of my favorites. They’re the only people I’ve seen making urethane products with their kama diva line. They’ve tried very hard to address the issues that have come up and have even modified their website to be more transparent. Their products are quality and inexpensive and that, my friends, is something you don’t find often.
It’s been my pleasure to try their products and to show them my support. Every company has the occasional blooper. I’m happy to say the products themselves prove the bloopers they’ve had are a rare occurrence and not the norm.
Don Wands gets a resounding A in my book.
