A Q&A with xxx mama cita extraordinaire, Mariah Milano

Vivacious. Curvaceous. Exotic. Many words come to mind to describe the Capricornia, raven haired adult entertainment goddess; yet few seem to truly justify. A bona fide MILF often cast as a Latina babe despite her Sicilian heritage. Studios often cast Milano in these ethnic roles as her onscreen presence sizzles the libido of all spectators, seemingly with ease. Recently we were graced with Mariah’s company to discuss the state of today’s xxx affairs, entrepreneurship, urban legends and myths about the porn biz.

DAVE GAMMON: Mariah, you completely embody anatomical perfection; easily a combination of the most exotically beautiful and voluptuously sexiest of starlets I’ve ever come across—or encounter I should say–. How did the name Mariah Milano develop? Is it the fact you have an uncanny resemblance to a deliciously sweet appeal of Alyssa Milano and stunning good looks of Mariah Carey?

MARIAH MILANO: When I was new in the business back in 1998 I had just turned 18 the week before and my manager at the time Rob and his wife, Dee are the ones who gave me the name Mariah. I worked using the single name until 2007 when I decided I needed a last name. I went through the whole process and knew I wanted an Italian last name since I am Sicilian, and came up with Milano. It’s a good fit in my opinion. It had NOTHING to do with anyone else 

DG: What are some of the pro’s and con’s of being an adult starlet in 2010 even compared to say…20 years ago? Arguably we’re a more detached society physically yet fans can attain a more personable connection through networks such as Twitter, Face book, MySpace and webcams. Is technology in favour of the starlet today or is it best suited for the fan?

MM: During my first stint in porn from 98 to 2000 the internet was new and porn girls were discouraged from shooting anything for the internet. Everyone saw it as low end and so everyone avoided it. Now all the big companies are internet companies. The DVD companies really missed the timing badly. Back then the big presence on the internet were the amateur girls. They were more accessible and did webcam shows, whereas the porn girls were not. Now the biggest plus is that with the social networks we have become “real people” to our fans. They chat with us and join our sites and buy custom videos. Also porn and porn stars are much more mainstream and far more accepted than they were back then. The negative to all of this is that some of the porn stars ruin the fantasy that their fans may have had. Also the tube sites giving free videos to everyone makes it a lot harder to make money these days. You can spend time and money on producing content only to have it stolen and passed around for free, so the business has been crippled and I’m not sure it can recover back to the insanely profitable state it once was.

DG: There is a definite trend in female stars directing, overseeing their own websites in some instances running their own production companies. The days of Candida Royalle, Sharon Mitchell, Bionca 7 being the only women leading their genre of choice is a thing of the past. How empowering is it to be producing, directing, and starring in your own website today? Who do you attribute your main influences to be?

MM: It is really a great opportunity for girls like myself to branch out and express their sexuality in a far more personal way. I love the fact I can now produce movies and do cam shows and put different types of sites online that cater to different desires and fulfill fantasies. Back in the day you were at the mercy of the guy who hired you. Now we’re the ones doing the shooting and hiring and creating the story lines. It’s very empowering!

DG: Speaking of which; MariahxXx.net truly should have a disclaimer before it warning of addiction and heading caution to those of us who have cardiac afflictions. In a word? Stunning! Hundreds of hours of content, multiple cam shows per week; smokin’ hot photo sets; guest models all for the price of one individual DVD. Where do you get your inspiration and better yet your energy because if you can patent it, market it and sell it sign me up for half a dozen.

MM: haha well I work every morning for at least 5 hours on my sites. I have over 70 now! Lol Most are traffic sites but I have a HUGE project in the works that is totally different from anything anyone else has done. I would love to tell you but I can’t. It’s going to be launched on Howard Stern in November.

DG: I think one thing that has impressed me about you Mariah; I mean aside from the lush irresistible body, enchanting beauty, ravishing physique and your unprecedented passion in your scenes ….is… well your heart. You seem to have a genuine appreciation for your fans, interacting whenever possible, exchanging X-Mas cards. It is a rarity in this industry and I applaud you for it. What has been the most thoughtful thing a fan has ever done for you?

MM: I have had some amazing things done for me by fans and members. The most thoughtful thing is probably just the emails I get asking for nothing, just saying how much appreciated my work is and how much they enjoy my movies and my site. That means a lot to me.

DG: What are your views on the competition? Are you a fan of adult content? Who do you think has a truly outstanding website? Do you think the industry is saturated and what are your views on ‘tube’ sites?

MM: I don’t really watch porn. First of all, I know 90% of the people in them so it’s kind of weird lol I really like Jessica Jayme’s website. Very creative and naughty and she knows what’s up.

DG: In the biographical section of your website you commented on the fact that size does not matter, and to paraphrase: “as long as it’s hard and in me.” I can see your popularity among fans sky rocketed 200% with a comment such as that. In a certain regard size is most definitely a myth or misconception. What are some of the other common misconceptions about our industry to the average, everyday, ordinary person?

MM: We aren’t all drug addicts and we aren’t all whores. I’ve never fucked a guy off camera for money. I never will. I get a dozen emails a week at least asking my rates for escorting. I understand them asking but I hate the fact that people just assume you’re an escort because you do movies. I have been very outspoken about this and it has caused some issues from other girls. I honestly don’t care what you do, but it creates a very unsafe situation when girls are taking extra money off camera to fuck a guy without a condom, which actually happens believe it or not.

DG: You’ve performed in many inter-racial scenes and you’re often billed as Latin where in reality you’re actually Sicilian. Does this bother you and how do you think the presentation of inter-racial scenes in porn translates into society? Do you think our content helps or hinders a more multi-cultural, harmonious society?

MM: I think it helps. You have the biggest stars in the business shooting with people of all ethnicities which to me is great. However, racism in porn is a big problem. Girls charge more to do the exact scene with a black guy as they would a white guy. To me that’s totally fucked up and I wouldn’t charge different rates based on skin color. That’s another thing I’ve been outspoken about that has gotten me into some squabbles with viewers and other porn stars but again, I don’t give a shit lol If you don’t fuck black guys and claim it’s because you just aren’t attracted to them, then you better be doing scenes with the best looking white guys. I hear that from some porn stars yet they work at the fucking Bunny Ranch or do scenes with Ron Jeremy. Give me a fucking break and be honest about it. Just say I am prejudice and be done with it!

DG: Well lovely Ms. Milano I’ve certainly flooded you with an onslaught of questions today. One final comment/question I’d like to pose is how I cannot help but notice your exquisite taste in lingerie. You have some of the most elegant undergarments that truly compliment all your features to a degree where one would suspect each piece is custom made. For Mariah Milano fans new and die hard alike what is your favourite style, colour, designer of lingerie? How can admirers forward intimate apparel as gifts to the captivating Mariah Milano or any other gift ideas for that matter?

MM: It drives me crazy when I see these girls with tacky outfits from the stripper stores. It’s like, “you’re getting paid in a few hours more than the average American makes in a week yet you buy tacky cheap shit?” I spend time and money buying quality unique outfits for my scenes and I think I owe that to the people who watch my videos. The same goes for the girls who attend conventions and events who wear fucking dresses from stripper stores or walk around in a stripper schoolgirl costume? I mean come on! How much more tacky can you be? If a director hires me and wants me to wear a certain outfit that’s one thing but I make sure that when I do anything in public I wear something with style and that 10,000 other strippers aren’t sliding on a pole somewhere have worn down to the stubborn under stains lol seriously, walking around in clear heels or platforms with a polyester skin tight dress? How about having some class when you’re meeting your fans, ya know? I shop on Melrose for dresses and buy my shoes from actual shoe stores that are unique and have some style. I bought a pair of shoes that were made for Victoria Beckham by this store on Melrose. They only made 8 pairs of them and this pair didn’t fit her. They are amazing with a 7 inch heel. You have no idea how many girls have asked me where I got those shoes! Lol

I have an Amazon wishlist on my site where fans and members can send me gifts. My favorite lingerie is La Perla and Nancy Meyer and Christian Lacroix and Sensualle and Rigby and Peller to name a few. I buy at least 4 or 5 things from at least one of these sites a week. Call it an addiction lol but I see it as a desire to give my fans and viewers something different from the same stripper store garbage most girls are wearing. I don’t even own a pair of clear heels anymore lol
