Throughout the world, International Woman’s Day is an occasion to honor and praise women for their accomplishments.
The very first National Woman’s Day was observed on February 28th 1909, right here in the U.S. Two years later the very first International Woman’s Day was celebrated on March 18th, 1911. The United Nation has official themes for each Woman’s Day, and this year’s is “Empower Women – End Hunger and Poverty.”
Woman’s Day is a day that gives us a chance to put the spotlight on the women in our lives, for whatever reason. Everybody has a woman in their life who has made an impact; whether it be your mother, your best friend, or even the friendly cashier that rang you up with a smile that brightened your day.
