There wasn’t much that wasn’t talked about between my two best friends and me in high school. As teenage girls with raging hormones, with boyfriends that were willing to do anything a girl suggested as long as it meant getting laid, we had a lot to talk about. Early on, when virginities were first being discarded, we just gossiped about positions and premature ejaculation. Then as experimentation began we talked about anything and everything, including anal.

One of my best friends had anal sex after seeing it in almost every porn video that was watched. It was the talk of the lunch table, we wanted to know everything. Without very much detail all she explained to us was about how much it hurt and how she would never ever do it again. After all, if it hurt as much as my best friend said it did, why would they want to do that?

Another year went by, and my other best friend got pressured by her boyfriend enough to try it herself. The same results, it was horrible. It felt like she was being ripped in two, she touted. I vowed not to do that, unless I was married to the guy. I held onto that like it was my new V-card.

Some of the boys I was with asked, but I always said no. I remembered in the back of my head how both of my friends said how much it hurt. I remember them saying they ended up in tears. I remembered my vow never to do that unless I was married and the guy really wanted it.

Then I started reading about it online. I read about lube. I read about anal preparation. I read about positions to make it easier for first-timers. I started to become educated about anal sex. Once I was educated, I found out that it was something I really wanted to try. I was in a serious relationship at the time [my current relationship to be exact] so I discussed it with him. It was always something he wanted to do with me, and finally it was something I wanted too.

I bought the right kind of lube. I started easing myself into it by inserting a finger during my alone time. It wasn’t horrible, and I was shocked. I talked to my best friends about this new development, I was going to try anal. They both looked at me in horror. Hadn’t I learned from their mistakes? Didn’t I know how awful it would be? So for the first time I asked the right questions to them, ‘did you use lube’, ‘did you prep first’, ‘did you take it easy so you got used to it’. The answers were the ones I expected, no, no, no. For the first time it dawned on them that perhaps they were doing it wrong.

So even though I was the last of my best friends to try anal, I was the first to enjoy it. I was a bundle of nerves the first time, but with lube, prep, and a partner who was willing to let me adjust, I was able to enjoy it. Not too long after my adventures with anal, one of my best friends tried it the right way- and loved it. Once knowing the proper way to enjoy it, she was surprised at how much she enjoyed the sensation. My other best friend still won’t do it again, I say give it time. The butt is too good of a thing to pass up your whole life.
