Cock Rings: You’ve heard about them, wondered about them, and maybe you’ve already owned and used a few. They also go by the names “erection rings,” or “penis rings”. They come in many shapes and sizes,  and are made of all different materials. A cock ring is a device to help a man keep an erection if he has trouble maintaining one, and some say that they even help a man keep one for a longer period of time. Some people report an increase sensitivity of the penis, and in some cases even report a slight increase in length, width, and altogether girth of the penis.

Cock rings can be placed on the penis and scrotum in a number of ways, depending on the ring size and material. They can be used around the base of the penis, or underneath the head of the penis. They can even be used around both the base of the penis and scrotum at once, or the scrotum alone.

You can find erection rings made in several different sizes and materials including silicone, rubber, jelly, metal, plastic, and even wood. Cock rings are sold at prices that range anywhere from $1.99 to over $100 at some stores, so you really have to do your research to find one of both good value and price. Thus, the reason my fiancé and I prefer EdenFantasys.com. You can find some wonderful erection rings for under $20.

I recommend buying a few at one time, that way you can see which material works best for you. Not all cock rings will give you what you need. Jelly might not give you enough “grip” or “squeeze,” and plastic may feel too rigid. Metal may feel too heavy, and wood may feel too light. It’s just like medications – you need to see what works best for you. Note: Wooden cock rings are currently not sold at EdenFantays.

But even after knowing all this information, one major question still arises in the backs of our heads about these little rings: Do cock rings propose any risk of injury or health problems?

A licensed clinical psychologist and sex therapist, as well as a board-certified sexologist, Dr. Sandor Gardos explains in a Q&A page, the basic injuries that are caused by using cock rings, and how to prevent them from happening. Here is a small excerpt that I found to be most helpful:

“Erection rings are not generally considered dangerous or harmful as long as they are used correctly and safely. Most importantly, they should not be kept in place for more than half an hour. When a man is erect, there are tubes (known as corpus cavernosa) that are engorged with blood. But, this blood does not carry oxygen to the tissues of the penis. Having an unwavering erection can actually cut off blood supply to the penis. If left on for too long, you can even burst blood vessels, causing bruising, swelling, and sometimes even vascular damage. For these reasons, I often recommend that if you wish to experiment, use a ring made of fabric or rubber — something that can be cut in an emergency — and not metal. And, for God’s sake, don’t make it so tight that you are ready to burst!” – Dr. Sandor Gardos

Therefore, what we have learned from Dr. Gardos is that erection rings are not dangerous, as long as they are used correctly. If you are a beginner, please try and choose a cock ring that is made of a stretchy material; A ring that can be easily removed if you begin to feel uncomfortable, or if you are in any pain. Here are some good materials for beginners that can easily be removed at home,
and shouldn’t cause much discomfort:

If you currently use those types of rings listed above, but are unhappy with the amount of grip you are getting, consider using hard Plastic – Such as the Bo Pleasure Object Cock Ring by LELO. Plastic is more solid, gives you a better grip, but can easily be cut by a professional in case of an emergency. Wooden cock rings are also another great material that can be cut in case of an emergency.

Metal cock rings should only be used by very advanced cock ring users. If you are unsure whether you are advanced or not, you probably aren’t. Advanced cock ring users are those who know their cock ring size without looking at a piece of paper. They have owned several different cock rings, made of all different materials, and have used them regularly with no issues for more than a few months.

For those of you who are not advanced, but really want to try metal cock rings, I would practice with a quick-release metal cock ring such as the Super 8 Ring by Power of Love. This ring is designed to go around both the cock and balls, but can be used either way. It features a latch to remove the cock ring in case it becomes uncomfortable. Once you have decided that metal rings are for you, you can progress to choosing other metal cock rings.

Lastly, one should always know their proper measurements before purchasing any cock ring. Young men have been known to show penis growth up until age 20 in rare cases, so you should do this often to be safe. To find yours, or your partner’s measurements, follow these simple steps. All you will need is a piece of measuring tape and an erect penis. You might also want to get a pen and paper to write down your size so you don’t forget.

Note: You can do the following steps with a string, and then measure the string next to a ruler if you do not have a measuring tape.

1.. Get an erection. I suppose your significant other can help you with this one. It is of utmost importance that you are fully erect or the measurements can be incorrect.

2.  Have you or your partner measure these four places, or at least the place where the male wishes to wear his cock ring. While measuring, be sure to get as snug of a measurement as possible, without causing discomfort.

  • The base of your shaft (where your penis meets your lower pelvis)
  • The base of your shaft AND scrotum together at once (you want to get as much scrotum in there as possible, and you want to wrap the measuring tape as tightly as possible)
  • Your scrotum by itself (once again, as tightly as possible)
  • The area underneath the head of your cock (under the mushroom top)

3.  Now for the calculating. Cock rings are usually measured in diameter. To achieve this number, take the measurement of the area you would like to wear your cock ring and divide that number by 3.14 (PI). The average diameter for a penis is between 1.5 and 2.25 inches, but don’t worry, cock rings come in all sizes.

Every product page for a cock ring shows the maximum stretched diameter. You want to choose one that is slightly smaller than your measurement. A good size to start at would be about a half inch smaller for more solid materials (Ex: metal, plastic, etc.) and an inch smaller for a jelly rings.

I hope this article helped you curious lovers out just a bit, and good luck in shopping for your new cock ring! Don’t forget to be safe!
