Few fiery redheads have graced the realm of wrestling and adult entertainment like “The Prize” April Hunter. Multi-talented and visually breath taking Ms Hunter, can stop your heart with one glimpse or render you unconscious with dozens of suplex variations, body slams and head scissors. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennslyvania, April later moved to Enterprise, Alabama after her parents divorced.
Having studied english, biology and chemistry, it wasn’t long before the beauty realized her true calling at the time in exotic dancing. She pursued the endeavor as a means to an end. Always a fitness buff at 5’9” and 150lbs and a boastful 40DD-27-36, The Prize began entering various fitness competitions and earning much attention in fitness rags such as Muscle Mag International and Flex. It wasn’t long before April’s exotic good looks got the attention of such men’s magazines as Playboy and Maxim.
After her appearance in Playboy, the now defunct World Championship Wrestling organization hired her to play a valet in the New World Order faction in 2000. Not long after she left the WCW to pursue full training in pro wrestling under legendary Killer Kowalski. The Prize quickly gained recognition on the independent circuit traveling the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan and the United Kingdom.
Hunter’s relentless style quickly pitted her against male opponents on the independent circuit after acquiring numerous titles such as the Far North Women’s Championship, Great Canadian Wrestling (GCW) WILD Championship and World Queens of Chaos Women’s Championship to name a few. She’s since retired from active competition due to repetitive spinal and neck injuries. Never fear, April can still be found ringside as manager/valet to Ohio Valley Wrestling talent. This is a persona, The Prize greatly enjoys.
She currently runs her own adult entertainment web site aptly labeled ‘The Ultimate Men’s Playground’. Full nude pictorials of her and friends are included. April Hunter currently resides in Louisville Kentucky with wrestler/husband J.D. Maverick. Recently I caught up with The Prize and discussed everything from her latest endeavors to what’s erotic and who’s hot in the current wrestling game.
Dave Gammon: Arguably the greatest women’s wrestler of all time. Stunning, ravishing and possibly the most beautiful woman to grace the realm of sports entertainment is April Hunter. You’ve recently become involved very much in the squared circle but within capacity of a valet and manager. New and devoted fans alike have become enamored instantly with your appearances in numerous men’s magazines. Throughout your experiences in these roles which is your preferred persona and most memorable moment?
April Hunter: Well, first—thank you. Very much! As far as being a wrestling manager again, I’m having a blast. I think I’m a far better manager than I ever was a wrestler. I started this business managing and couldn’t get a break in the ring for a long time, actually. I just love all the heat from fans at the end of the match. It’s a shame more are not using managers. I’ve always thought they added so much excitement and unpredictability to a match.
Anything that can go wrong on a live show usually will! I think anyone who likes to hear about this kind of stuff would definitely enjoy reading my behind-the-scenes diaries. Slips, falls, road rage, broken noses, insane Euro trips, crazy Mexico, getting naked with Jimmy Hart (not in THAT way, mind you)…there’s too much to tell and I can’t pick just one story!
DG: In your opinion- first female then male who is the most talented wrestler today?
AH: As far as World Wrestling Entertainment? I’d say Beth Phoenix. When she moves in the ring, you know she’s a wrestler. She controls the other girls and her confidence is very apparent. For independent women, I’d say Sara Del Ray. She’s powerful, technical and can have a good match with anyone. She’s got the valuable experience of Japan, Mexico & Europe as well…something too many females in the ring are missing since you learn to adapt to anyone and any wrestling style. For WWE men, I’d say my favorite to watch is Santino Marella. Is he the most technical? No. But he’s entertaining. Love Evan Bourne, too. For independent men, I’d say Ohio Valley Wrestling’s JD Maverick. He’s extremely entertaining, technical, an excellent talker and pretty much the total package as far as looks, athletics and ring ability.
DG: April Hunter fans are often identified as devoted, die hard and loyal. What is typical interaction with your fans like face to face? How does it feel to be virtually worshipped?
AH: I love it! I love meeting my fans…well, most of them, anyway. I do AprilHunter.com myself, so it makes me feel like all my hard work has paid off. Plus I just enjoy meeting new people from all over. It’s why I love traveling.
DG: Your website www.aprilhunter.com has been appropriately billed ‘The Ultimate Men’s Playground.” What can first time browsers and avid fans alike expect?
AH: You tell ME. You’ve sneaked a peek, right? (laughs). Go on…tell ‘em about having instant access to over 10,000 pictures…diaries…over 200 other guestbabes…videos…it’s everything a man could want in a virtual world.
DG: Yes. I must concur; it is without doubt some of the hottest photos, mesmerizing themes and hypnotic steam one can fathom. Definitely get a real bang for your buck. Word of caution: if your computer monitor is not current you may sustain significant melting as a result.
DG: Describe one unfulfilled fantasy. What gets the already fiery April hot and bothered?
AH: You seem to assume my fantasies haven’t been fulfilled. Honestly, now–do I seem like the type of female who would let an opportunity slip by without taking full advantage of it? Life is meant to be LIVED, Mister!
DG: What’s on the horizon for April Hunter, any special endeavors, projects or pursuits?
AH: I’m modeling quite a bit again. I have a lot of new projects coming out, am working on a book. I’m headed to Chicago this autumn to host a rock radio show, but I’ll still be taking selectappearances, working on the 2nd volume of CODE RED (comic) & headed to Europe in Nov for another AWR wrestling tour. As of press time April had briefly come out of retirement to embark upon a European tour with independent organization American Rampage Wrestling in late 2009. She made an appearance with Lorelei on Total Nonstop Action wrestling seen on Spike TV in December, yet declined a contractual offer in May of this year.
No stranger to the fitness competition circuit, she’s placed 3rd in the NPC sanctioned figure competition in November 2009 and enters competitively on the national level. April actively maintains and administers her website www.aprilhunter.com and can be contacted on twitter and facebook.
